1. Information we collect

• Account details: when you sign up in the app you give us your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), and optionally a display name and profile photo.
• Photos you scan: images you capture or upload so our AI can give you a visual estimate of a diamond or gemstone. The image is sent to our AI provider to generate that result and may be saved to your scan history.
• Community content: if you choose to post, the photos, captions, comments, likes and follows you create are stored and shown to other users of the app.
• Purchases: if you subscribe, our billing provider and the app store record which plan you bought and transaction references. We never see or store your full card details.
• Device & ads data: to show ads and keep the app stable, advertising and device identifiers (such as an ad ID) and basic crash/performance data may be collected.
• Usage data: simple analytics such as which features are used and general device type, to keep the service working and improve it.
• Website & mail-in service data: on our website you may submit a photo, book a lab test, or mail in a stone; we then collect your contact and (for return shipping) postal details, the stone while in our custody, and the results we generate.
• Communications: the contents of messages you send us through the app, our forms, email, WhatsApp or phone.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• •give you your AI estimate, run your account, and save your scans, saved items and credits;
• •power community features you choose to use (posts, comments, likes, follows);
• •process subscriptions and send receipts, results and service updates;
• •produce verdicts, grading reports or certificates for our website / mail-in service and return stones safely;
• •show and measure ads (in the free version) and, if you subscribe, remove them;
• •respond to your enquiries, provide support, and keep the service secure and fraud-free;
• •improve the accuracy of our results and the quality of the app and website.

We rely on your consent, the performance of our service to you, and our legitimate interest in running and improving the service as the legal bases for this processing.

3. Service providers we use

We share data only with the providers that help us run the service, and only as much as they need to do their job. They are bound by their own privacy and security obligations:

• Supabase: our backend — securely stores your account, scans, community content and files.
• Anthropic (Claude AI): the AI that analyses a scanned photo to produce your estimate. Your image is sent only to generate your result and is not used to train their models.
• Google AdMob: serves ads in the free version and may use device/advertising identifiers to do so.
• RevenueCat & Google Play Billing: handle subscriptions and in-app purchases; the app store processes the actual payment.
• Analytics & crash tools: help us understand usage and fix problems.

4. We never sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, your photos, or your results to anyone. Ever. The only sharing that happens is with the service providers listed above so the app and website can function.

5. Your photos and content

Photos you scan are used to produce your result and, if you are signed in, saved to your private scan history. They are never made public unless you choose to share them to the community. Community posts you create are visible to other users until you delete them. Stones you mail in through our website remain your property and are handled only by certified gemologists, kept insured, and returned securely.

6. Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. Scans and community content are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Certificate and grading records from our mail-in service may be kept longer (typically up to seven years) so a certificate stays verifiable. We may keep limited transaction records where the law requires.

7. Deleting your account and data

You are in control. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time — see our Delete Account page for the steps. Once processed, your profile, scans, saved items and community posts are removed, except for anything we must keep for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.

8. Ads and your choices

The free version of the app shows ads via Google AdMob. You can limit ad personalisation in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking), and you can remove ads entirely by subscribing. Our website uses only essential and basic analytics cookies — never advertising-profile cookies — and you can control these in your browser.

9. How we protect your data

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security so each user can only reach their own private data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we apply safeguards proportionate to what you entrust to us and review them regularly.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, request its deletion, object to or restrict its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

11. Children

Diamonds Tester is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
